I am neither an expert, nor an amateur. I guess you might
just say I’m intermediate perhaps. Having a personal blog and all, I’ve gotten
into the swing of sharing my unfiltered thoughts with a bunch of strangers, who
are internally either laughing or judging me.
I would vouch through experience
that the most difficult part of creating a blog is just getting the ball
rolling. The doubting thoughts are the worst, I mean there are so many things:
what do I call it, is this good enough to release into the cyber world, what if
they hate me, am I rambling, maybe I’m not cut out for this? My remedy was
quite simple you see…you just get over it! I mean once you understand that this
is YOUR blog, not Jenny’s, Joe’s, or Mary’s blog, you resolve the problem.
I always had a narrow-minded
opinion about blogs…and I frown upon my naïve ways. I won’t lie, I always
thought that blogs were “venting” forums for people that are too scared to say
things out loud, but I couldn’t be more incorrect. There are so many kinds of
blogs that rang from story telling to advice column and each one is unique just
like the person writing them.
Blogging vs The Book of Faces. Sure
they are both free sites that you may express yourself freely on with out
“judgment” and let people know where you are, how you’re doing, what you are
doing, how you feel, and of course what you think. But let’s look deeper if you
don’t disagree. Facebook is literally a book of faces, with pretty little
captions describing people, and random notifications of events. Facebook is
where you say something, and hope no one starts beef with you. When it comes to
blogging there is none of this nonsense of keeping tabs on people. When you
write your blog you don’t have to worry about Bill and Tina or Jena or anyone
else. YOUR blog is about you, and anyone that doesn’t approve may slam their
laptop closed or politely exit the screen, but no matter what these are your
thoughts, and the best part is there is no globe on the left side of the
newsfeed that tells people what you write.
I feel like the connection between
writing and blogs is the concept of creative writing. You are creatively
describing your thoughts and writing them down. If it were in a notebook that
these thoughts were written…it would still be writing.
If you disagree, that’s fine we can agree to disagree ‘till
the next post.
I had the same negative view towards blogging as you in the beginning! Once I really got into it I became so much more open minded towards subjects and learned how to see multiple sides of a situation. (: Lookin forward to reading your posts on here.
